Portrait of The Artist As A Young Man “Giving” “Direction”
Who is Leonardo Adrian Garcia?
Leonardo Adrian Garcia is currently the Creative Director/Supervising Producer of IndieWire, overseeing the video and podcast endeavors of both the TV and Film teams.
He was previously Creative Director of Onion Inc., where he managed over 40 employees and juggled the editorial video slates of The Onion, ClickHole, and The A.V. Club. Under his tenure, video views at Onion Inc. grew from 7 million views/month in 2015 to 182 million views/month in 2017.
He also served as Head of Development for The Onion’s long-form arm, Onion Studios, directing The Onion’s return to television (after a five-year hiatus), The Onion Presents The Iconic Images of Election 2016, and producing 30 episodes of The A.V. Club with John Teti on Fusion.
While at The Onion, he also wrote, shot, and directed everyone’s favorite type of content: BRANDED! for a host of well-known brands including, but not limited to, Ben & Jerry's, Rumchata (a personal fave), MillerCoors, and Ford.
Other notable credits include writing As We Go Along, a short film that premiered at the Cannes Short Film Corner; shooting, editing, and producing Stupid Bitch Syndrome, which was a finalist in the Comedy Central Short Pilot Competition Finalist; and directing The Laces, a sketch comedy show that was a finalist for Best of The Fest at the NYTVF.
In the past he has shot and edited for The Second City Network, Yahoo! Screen, and Upworthy.
He enjoys wheat beers and tuna and rice.
Born and raised in Miami, he now resides in Echo Park with his amazing wife and insufferably cute dog. His inane (and infrequent) thoughts can be found at @leoadriangarcia.
